the REDS come to town......

England’s most successful club, Liverpool, was in town for a friendly match against Malaysian national team on 16^th July 2011.

Liverpool’s hardcore supporters made a carnival like environment outside the stadium and the stadium itself was transformed into an Anfield kind of environment where the stadium was full with 80,000 fans, all with red apparels, the banners and the Liverpool anthems.

It was a life time experience not to be missed & Kamala Kannan family’s hardcore Liverpool supporters, Sekar & Kabil was there to be part of the history !!!

ISKCON Temple at Kolkata

Kolkata ISKCON Temple is situated in the Centre of Kolkata city, near to the busy business districts. It is a double storey building, with the altar situated at the upper floor, together with a small gift shop and the statue of Prabhupata. Ground floor has a kitchen where some sweets were on sale and some renovation work was going on during my visit. All the photos you’re seeing here are of the second floor.

I was there around 1.30pm Indian time (4.00pm Malaysian time) when the ‘pooja’ was taking place. A number of devotees were there to attend the prayers. Prasadham was not available during afternoon prayers but some ‘teertham’ was readily available for the devotees.

Since it is summer in India now, Balram & Subathira statues were covered with sandal to reduce the heat and the sandal will be removed at night. Was also informed that Mayapur is about 2 hours away & prearranged tours are available at reasonable cost.

Mother House

This is the service centre, from where Mother Teresa was servicing the Kolkata’s poor. It is situated in a busy street on the way to the famous Kali Temple of Kolkata.

Mother Teresa’s tomb is situated in a room within the house itself. There is also an exhibition room, where you can see various photos & awards of Mother Teresa. Photos are not allowed except in the room where Mother’s tomb is situated.

There are many nuns from various races continuing Mother’s service today…….reminded me of the ‘Anbe Sivam’ movie !!

Something New, Something Extraordinaire, Something Never Done Before

25th December, Journey to Sarawak.

25th December, a date which is unforgettable by Kamala Kannan family members. Thamo and his family flew to Sarawak. Before they left, all the family members gathered at LCCT to see them before they leave. Tears came out from everyone's eyes as the time for them to leave to Sarawak came. Some of Kamala Kannan family members didn't attend the gathering as they couldn't accept that they would be leaving. Hopefully they will stay happily in Sarawak.

A Memorable Day with Thamo

On the 24th December 2010, a farewell party was done for Thamo and his family. The party was done in Gopalan's house in Taman Satellite, Bahau. The party was done as Thamo will be going to Indonesia as he got a better job there and his family will be staying in Sarawak. Everyone felt sad as this is the first time Kamala Kannan family will be separated. It is also a good news as it will be a experience for Thamo, Jayah, Yashini, Kosalan and Mahaletchume.

The 10th Family Gathering & The Launching of Kamala's Vamsha

     The 10th Kamala Kannan Family Gathering was another big success to us. It was an enjoyable gathering which was held again in INB Resort, Malacca as last year.
  
     During the 10th family gathering, the launching of Kamala's Vamsha blog was done grandly. Multimedia show by Prem Kumar, dance by Shobanah and Rheaishwarya, singing by Shahswin and Kabil and violin performance by Nieha was among the agendas during the launching of Kamala's Vamsha blog.

     As usual, we had Kamala Kannan Junior Cup. The game was joined by Satish, Kabil, Ram Nivashan, Nitha, Shobanah, who were in AC Milan team and Sharin, Khaswin, SHarmin and Kosalan who were in Manchester City team. The champion was AC Milan team which won with 5 marks and Manchester City team lost the game after gaining 4 marks.

     Although many people didn't attend the 10th Kamala Kannan Family Gathering, but this year's family gathering was still a big success.
